THIS HISTORIC 17TH-CENTURY TAVERN IS IN WINECELLAR ENTRY,
AN OLD TRADING ALLEY WHERE MERCURY NEWSPAPER WAS
FOUNDED IN THE 1850s. WHITE’S TAVERN PROUDLY LAYS CLAIM
TO BEING THE OLDEST TAVERN IN BELFAST, ESTABLISHED IN 1630 [...]
Located in Winecellar Entry, steeped in history, culture and established in 1630. White’s Tavern welcomes you to the oldest tavern in Belfast. The city's first-ever tavern license was granted to the very building where we stand, making us the premier bar and pub of Belfast. Upstairs we have The Oyster Rooms, a charming addition to our traditional Irish bar since 1868. Renowned for our high-quality and seafood preparations. We are often named amongst the best restaurants in Belfast.
But, our latest ‘avatar’ is truly special!
At our heart, we remain an authentic Irish Bar, serving Irish pub grub in Belfast and featuring foot- tapping live music every evening. But what’s new is our unique blend of contemporary and traditional; we keep our history alive while offering newly-refurnished décor and modern conveniences.
So much so that, based on expert advice, we have modelled our brewing facility to incorporate a 57-centimetre line from the keg to tap, with a 45-degree tilt. This allows us 119.53 seconds to pour, rest the froth and serve it at a precise temperature of 6 degrees centigrade. If this is not perfection in a glass, then we don’t know what is!
A long day of sightseeing, shopping, or sitting in a conference room amid PowerPoint presentations? No matter what kept you busy all day, when the sun goes down treat yourself to a heavenly cool pint of Guinness with some delicious Irish pub grub at White’s Tavern. No better way to unwind than to spend your evening at one of the best and most historic pubs in Belfast. Good food, great drinks, live music and warm banter with your family, friends, colleagues or a special someone!
